The word “vending machine” at school brings up recess, a line and a candy bar eaten right before math. With us, it works differently. At a school, the machine is for staff and adults, and only products the law allows go inside.
Where It Stands vs. What’s in It
Where the machine stands is covered in the guide on the machine in the teachers’ staff room: the staff room, the school office, an adult area. This text is about the other question, what can go in the machine.
Only Products the Law Allows
The law sets out which products can be sold in schools: art. 52c of the Food and Nutrition Safety Act and the Health Minister’s regulation of 16 February 2026 (Journal of Laws item 197), in force since 1 September 2026. Alnos Vending applies it to the whole range of a school machine, including the one in the staff room. If the principal, with the parents’ council, sets a product list, we follow that too. We don’t publish our own list of “allowed snacks,” because the rules decide, not a guide. More on the universities and secondary schools page and the Products page.
What Definitely Isn’t There
- energy drinks,
- tobacco and nicotine products,
- an offer aimed at pupils.
Coffee for the Staff
The Coffee Machine in the staff room means coffee from freshly ground beans and drinks from soluble products for teachers and staff. Like every Alnos Vending machine, it stands inside the building and needs a separate earthed 230 V socket and an agreed water supply.
Who Keeps an Eye on the Range
Alnos Vending, because we refill the machine. We agree the range with the principal’s office, write it into the contract and show the current product list whenever the school asks.
Universities Are a Bit Different
At a university the users are adults, but the no-energy-drinks rule applies just the same. Details are agreed for the specific building.

The candy bar before math stays in the pupil’s backpack. The coffee before the staff meeting stands in the staff room.
